REED INFORMATION:
Type of cane: Medir
Description of shape: The Cornelison bassoon shape was developed as a practical hybrid of the Christlieb Narrow and Herzberg shapes. The goal was to combine the broader tonal range of the Christlieb Narrow with the stability in the tenor register and the flexibility of the Herzberg beveling approach as a system for adjusting the reed. After working through several prototypes with varying blends and crossover points between the two designs, the final dimensions were established in 2025.
